pop the shoe.

Two weeks ago, one of my closest friends was in town from Dallas, and we popped in the extra-adorable Free People store in Manhattan Beach. I found these pants, and I wear them to snuggle up in at home, to run errands during the day with a great pair of flats, and they are perfect for a dinner date with a pair of heels. Don’t you love when an accidental find becomes a staple in your wardrobe?

shoe wishlist

I don’t know about you but I have been on a major shoe craze recently. I blame the change of weather. But I have been loving lace-up sandals, fun wedges, and some bright kicks to pair with boyfriend jeans or cut off shorts! Here are just a few of the beauties that are on my current wishlist, in case you’re also on the hunt for some new great shoes for Spring! (You can hover over the image to get links to each shoe!)

Fall essentials | the perfect booties + flats

Transitioning to cooler weather means putting your favorite gladiator sandal back in the closet, and starting the hunt for the perfect fall bootie. Here are a few of my favorites {+ Madewell is currently having an amazing sale, so now is the time to purchase your favorite bootie!}

1. This suede Billie boot from Madewell is my personal fave. The neutral color makes it so versatile, perfect for pairing with a casual skirt, or this amazing broken-in J. Crew boyfriend jean I’m obsessed with {currently on sale, too}!
2. You can’t go wrong with the classic black leather Ames boot. Pair it with a great pair of skinnies and you’re set for a night out, or wear them to the office with your favorite pleated skirt.
3. If you’re more into wedges than low heels, these TOMS wedge booties are perfect! The wedge could dress up any outfit, but the comfort level allows you to wear these babies all day long.

Fabulous boots feel even more fabulous when the socks underneath are just as adorable. We can’t get over these socks from Madewell {fall pick}! Who doesn’t need socks with the words “carpe diem” on the toes? So fun!

And of course, any fall wardrobe is not complete without great flats. Currently on my wishlist: the d’Orsay flat from Madewell. And bonus, it comes in black as well. I’ll be honest, I don’t buy a ton of shoes, but when I find a good one, I get it in every color!

So excited for September and adding some new Fall staples to the wardrobe!

Alberto Fermani Boots + a Coupon Inside!

Hey wintertime, what thrills me the most about you besides the salted hot chocolate, cozy big-blanket-worthy fireplaces, and holiday music to welcome the chill is…drum roll please…BOOTS. From ankle booties to over-the knee riders, I can legitimately say I adore them all. Each silhouette is fitting for the specific design of the day: casual, dressy, or some where in between.

So, I must admit: as fall tumbles into a snowy season, I try to investigate the market for a designer that could become my new favorite. So may I introduce you to this lovable brand? Alberto Fermani is the Italian name that is worth scribbling down in your iPhone notes section or at least on a sticky note! Bergdorf, Neimans, and Nordstrom all agree.

Good news. I am a fan of these boots because they resemble absolute quality alongside style.

Best news yet. A Post Thanksgiving Sale is coming up soon.

It begins Saturday, November 24th.

Seeing the Bigger Picture: Uwezo Shoes

I love when a fabulously talented person has an eye for a brand that will benefit something greater than just the fashion industry piggy bank. Alexis Hefley did just that when she stumbled upon these hair-on-hide shoes in a market during a trip to Uganda with her Dallas-based non-profit, Empower African Children, a charity that has funded education programs for high-risk and orphaned children since 2005. Alexis saw beyond a cute accessory for our feet–she saw impacted lives.

Uwezo, a shoe line that supports our style personalities with nature-ific oxfords while simultaneously providing academic scholarships and educational opportunity for Ugandan orphans and vulnerable youth, was born through a partnership with shoemaker Bata. This line of classic, yet trendsetting soles was an answer to many brainstorming sessions aiming to keep their educational programs up and running.

The best is yet to come: the shoe sales are not an end in themselves; they are a source for economic growth, providing jobs for local residents and utilizing cowhides from cows in the community. Another thumbs up: production takes place in environmentally friendly and sustainable factories in Kenya, where local employees are promised fair wages and humane working conditions.

You can find these super-cool, reasonably priced shoes at Macy’s or on the Uwezo website. Profits benefit the community and the educational programs of Uganda. Read more about Empower African Children here.
